Our Winged Fingerprint Heart Charm Necklace is handcrafted with one or two fingerprints from the people you love.

Choose one fingerprint to cover the front of the heart, or two fingerprints with each covering half. We carefully recreate the individual loops, whorls and tiny details of each fingerprint in the silver, then oxidise the prints to bring out the detail.

The reverse can be personalised with a name, date or personalisation of up to 10 letters.

The heart is finished with distinctive brass rivet details and supplied complete with a sterling silver chain.

Taking Fingerprints Yourself:
If you request instructions for taking prints yourself, we will send you an inkpad and paper kit within one working day of placing your order. You can then send us back your fingerprints either by scanning them as a high-resolution JPEG and emailing them to us or sending them to us through the post using our prepaid envelope. Alternatively, if you want to take your prints yourself at home without a kit, you can use a soft pencil, clear Sellotape, and white paper, which allows us to receive your prints quicker. Professional Fingerprint-Taking:
For those who prefer a professional touch, we offer an appointment service for taking fingerprints. This ensures high-quality prints with minimal hassle. Appointments are available at two locations with different availability times. After placing your order, you will receive an invite to book an appointment for professional fingerprint-taking. This option is ideal for ensuring precision and clarity, especially for important keepsakes.
Reuse Prints:
If you have previously ordered from us, you can reuse the prints we have on file.

How We Use Your Fingerprints:

Once we receive your fingerprints, we normally work with the central, most defined ‘whorly’ section of the print, as this is the area that carries the clearest and most characteristic detail for making into jewellery. If you would like us to use the full fingerprint, or if there is a particular area of the print you’d prefer us to focus on, please let us know when placing your order.

Each Morgan & French piece is handcrafted to order with exceptional care. We begin creating your jewellery once we have received everything we need, from your personalisation details to any required materials.

We understand that some customers may wish to receive their order sooner, so we offer the option to bring your piece forward in your maker’s schedule. These choices affect when your jewellery is created, never the skill or attention devoted to it.

Priority 1 – Express Creation

When time matters, your piece is scheduled for immediate bench work with your maker, crafted ahead of their usual making order. This typically brings completion forward by around three to five days, giving you a noticeably earlier finish for special gifts, meaningful moments and occasions where you simply need your jewellery sooner.

This premium service adds a 40% uplift to the base price of your piece (excluding any optional add-ons), so you’re never charged extra for choosing to include additional details or elements. It is available on selected designs each day.

Standard Service – Made in Turn

Your jewellery is handcrafted with the same care and attention, created in the natural rhythm of your maker’s schedule once everything required is in place. The same skill, the same devotion - simply made in turn.

Care Guide

We want your jewellery to look beautiful for years to come, which is why we recommend using a good quality jeweller's cloth regularly as part of your cleaning routine.

Silver and other metals are prone to tarnish. This oxidising process is a natural occurrence, but some substances in our daily lives will speed it up, such as soap, hairspray, perfume, food, latex, perspiration and even the natural oils on our hands. You should always remove jewellery before showering or swimming, as metals can react with shampoo, chemicals and chlorine.

To combat this, we are proud to offer an anti-tarnish service that you can easily add to your order. Our Rhodium Anti-Tarnish Plating Service ensures your cherished pieces retain their lustre and shine for as long as possible.

As with all jewellery, straps, links and clasps can be opened, damaged or broken if not treated with care. Please check your jewellery carefully when it arrives and let us know as soon as possible if it is damaged or faulty.

We provide a six-month guarantee against faulty workmanship or materials. This additional guarantee does not cover accidental damage, misuse or normal wear and tear.

Your statutory rights are unaffected and are not limited to the six-month guarantee period.

Questions about this piece

What can you engrave on the back?

Up to 10 characters including spaces, such as a name, initials or a date, engraved in a clear italic script. Leave the box empty for a plain back. For a different style of lettering, ask us before you order.

Can you engrave handwriting on the back?

Yes. A short line in someone's handwriting, a name or a few words, can be engraved on the back in place of our lettering, at £30 for each back. Email a clear photo or scan of the writing to studio@morganandfrench.com first, and we'll check it will fit and stay readable.

Can the prints come from different people, or arrive at different times?

Yes. Choose the option for the number of prints you'd like, label each print with the person's name and your order number, and tell us which print goes where. We need every print for a piece before we start, so if they'll reach us at different times, that's fine: we wait for the last one. If you're ordering more than one piece for different people and their prints will arrive separately, place separate orders so each piece can go ahead on its own.

How do I get the fingerprint to you?

Choose one of four ways under Providing prints:

Please send instructions for taking prints myself: we post you a free ink kit with a prepaid envelope within one working day (UK only).
I have taken clear prints that are ready to use: for a print you already have, or one you take at home with a soft pencil and clear Sellotape (our guide). Upload a photo or scan of it under Upload your prints as you order, up to 10 files. The upload is optional: you can instead email it to studio@morganandfrench.com with your order number after you order, or post it to the address we email you.
Reuse prints from a previous order: we use the prints we already hold for you.
Book an appointment for professional print-taking: we email you a link to book a free appointment at our Stamford shop or Biggleswade studio.

How do I know a print is clear enough?

Look for clear, unbroken lines, especially across the middle of the print, the part we use most. Take several prints from different fingers, pressing gently, and send them all: we'll choose the clearest. Scan at about 600 dpi, or photograph one or two prints at a time, close up in good light, and send the photo at full size: it should stay sharp when you zoom in. We don't draw in missing detail, so gaps and creases come out as plain silver. We check every print when it arrives and let you know if we need another.

Can you use a fingerprint I already have?

Yes, if it's clear: a print on paper or card, on a document, or in a scan or photo. Prints taken by a funeral director, hospital or hospice are usually fine too. To have it checked first, email it to studio@morganandfrench.com before you order. Otherwise choose I have taken clear prints that are ready to use and upload a photo or scan of it as you order, or send it to us after you order if you'd rather.

If it's faint or can't be taken again, we can often still use its clearest part; we may ask for the original, mould or putty impression, which we'll return. If nothing is usable, we'll say so and suggest an alternative, such as their handwriting.

Will a baby's or young child's fingerprint work?

We recommend prints from children aged 3 and over: younger children's prints are small and soft, and often don't hold enough detail. If you'd like to try, take a print at home and email it to us to check before you order. For a baby, our Hand & Footprint Jewellery is made for tiny prints.

When do you start making it, and how long does it take?

The making time shown on this page counts from the working day we have usable prints and anything else we've asked you for, rather than from the day you order. Allow time for a kit to reach you and the prints to come back. We email you when your prints arrive and again when making starts, with the date we expect to finish. If you need it sooner, Priority 1 – Express Creation brings completion forward by around three to five days once making can start.

Can I use my dog's nose or paw print instead?

Often, yes. A dog's nose print has fine lines like a fingerprint and can usually take its place on this piece: email a sharp, close-up photo of the nose in natural light to studio@morganandfrench.com and we'll check it first. When you order, say in Notes for the maker that it's a nose print; there's no need for a kit.
